Exploring local wineries can be fun, but it can also be scary. The individuality that makes enjoying local wine so enjoyable is also a challenge for wine consumers. 1. How long can I store this wine?

Different types of grape age are different. Fruit grapes should often be consumed within a few months of purchase and should not be aged. Red and port wines can be stored between six months and ten years and taste even better depending on the grape variety used.

2. Which dish can you recommend for this wine?

Pairing wine with food is a science. Local winemakers often make wines with a twist to differentiate themselves from other mass producers and local competition. This presents a challenge for winemakers who are less experienced when it comes to pairing.

3. At what temperature should this wine be served and how do you get it there?

It’s not a huge difference, but it’s worth asking and experimenting on your own. The serving temperature can have a drastic effect on the taste. Some wines don’t taste good if they aren’t refrigerated, while others are empty and bland if served too cold.

4. Where do you get your grapes from?

The fact that the wine is fermented and bottled in your country does not mean that it came from there. Many wineries complement local wines with California wines. There’s nothing wrong with that and their wines can actually be fantastic.

5. Where can you ship your wine?

It’s a shame, but you can’t ship wine to any country you want. Each state has a list of other states that the winery may or may not submit. Ask if they can ship to your state to see if you can order more favorites.
